Highland Park pop-up flower shop & art show; non-stand-up comedy in Silver Lake; Eastern European folk music in Frogtown

The public is invited to try their hand at floral arrangements during a pop-up flower shop and art show in Highland Park. Stand-up comedians perform anything but stand-up comedy for Underbelly at the Lyric Hyperion in Silver Lake. In Frogtown, the women’s folk chorus Nevenka performs songs from Eastern Europe – including from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Croatia, Albania, Russia, Greece and Georgia.

Sparks Take Over The El Rey

Musical mavericks Sparks – Californian brothers Ron and Russell Mael – have returned. Described as “the smartest, most consistently evolving band in the history of rock” and internationally acclaimed as pop pioneers, Sparks’ music has always been innovative and instantly identifiable. Sparks will play a special event, 3-day series at the El Rey Theatre starting Oct. 14.
