Water-dropping helicopters stop by Silver Lake for a drink

SILVER LAKE — Water-dropping helicopters are taking advantage of the recently refilled Silver Lake and Hyperion reservoirs this afternoon, using a large hose to suck water into the aircraft. We’re assuming the firefighting aircraft are being deployed to fight the La Tuna fire in the Verdugo Mountains.

“This Erickson Air-Crane helicopter has been flying over the Silver Lake Reservoir this afternoon,” said Sandy Driscoll. “Quite amazing.”

Thanks to Sandy and John Balcom for the photos.
