SILVER LAKE – The water level in the Silver Lake and Hyperion Reservoirs rose back to normal levels this summer after they had been drained in 2015 for a pipeline project. Pablo Prietto, who has a great view of of the Silver Lake Reservoir from his home, posted a time-lapse video last month on YouTube showing how the water level in reservoir began to rise over the spring and summer
Prietto, who works in film editing, said the idea came after he heard the L.A. DWP would begin to refill the reservoirs in April, earlier than expected. He took took the first photo in March and then daily through the beginning of July. After that he shot a video every few days.
“They were all taken from the same location – the deck behind my house,” Prietto said.
Officials said they will have to once again drain the Hyperion Reservoir, which sits to the north of the larger Silver Lake Reservoir, to finish some pipeline work. But the refilling of that reservoir will begin later this month.
