By Tatiana Tensen, The EastSide AgentThese may seem obvious, but when you’re navigating the Los Angeles house hunting process it’s important to keep these home buying tips in mind. 1. Think Resale. The average length of home ownership is 5 to 7 years. So keep in mind things like up-and-coming neighborhoods, home upgrades, and school districts. 2. Wallpaper and Counters Can Be Changed. I see it all the time – clients enter a beautiful home and are frightened by the parquet flooring in the kitchen. Don’t worry. Cosmetics and aesthetics can be changed over time. If the bones of the home are good, you’ll be good to go. 3. Don’t Wait! Homes sell quickly in Los Angeles. Very quickly. You may only have a few days to make a decision on whether or not you want to make an offer. If you love the home, and with me as your agent, you will know which house is your house when you see it. We will be prepared to write an offer. 4. Compare Sales. I will help you find comparable recent sales in the neighborhood with homes of similar size, bedrooms, baths, lot size, and more so that you can be sure you’re getting the most bang for your buck.
Let’s face it – renting can be a major bummer. But the idea of buying your first home can seem daunting to say the very least. When I was first bit by the real estate bug, I knew I wanted to stop throwing money away at rent each month but I had no idea where to even start. Or even who to ask.
Now that I’m a real estate agent, I can help other newbies like I once was get started. So come on down to my stress-free, everything-you-need-to-know in one hour or less LA Home Buyer Bootcamp! I will not only give you an overview of the buying process but I will also go over how to start a savings plan, whether you’re a year away from buying or five years. Plus we’ll talk about what the market is like right now and I’ll give you tips on how to win those annoying multiple offer situations.
