Motorcyclist killed in Highland Park collision

HIGHLAND PARK – A man died in a crash involving a car and motorcycle on Saturday afternoon at York Boulevard and Mesa Avenue, police said.

The motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on York at about 4:30 pm when he collided with the side of a Kia Soul that was making a left turn at Mesa Avenue, according to an account from the LAPD Central Traffic Division.

The victim, described as an approximately 49-year-old Asian man, was knocked off his bike and hit the pavement. He died from his injuries a short time after he arrived at a hospital, police said. His identity hasn’t been released pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the Kia remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
