Bus Crash: A bus traveling in the 10 Freeway HOV lane crashed into a wall near State Street in Boyle Heights late Monday afternoon, leaving half a dozen passengers injured. None of the injuries, however, were considered life threatening. My News LA

Fence FracasL.A. Times columnist Steve Lopez takes the city to task after numerous Atwater Village residents received notices from the city’s Building & Safety Department advising them to paint bare wood fences and gates or risk a $660 fine.  The notices were sent out as part of a code enforcement program to combat blight.  “Blight is certainly a problem on commercial and residential properties,” says Lopez, “but when it comes to private property, let’s go after the over-heaped dumpsters and front-yard car-repair operations. That seems more important than the little stuff.”

RV Rentals:  A KPCC story on the business of renting RVs, campers and other vehicles to homeless people included a woman who pays $500 a month to live in a box truck parked on the streets along the border of Echo Park and Silver Lake. “I mean, I don’t plan on doing it forever, but for now it’s kind of exciting and fun,” said Melody Groundflyer, a cable TV technician.
