County libraries in a financial bind; Los Feliz kitchen fire; car vs building in Boyle Heights

Libraries: The county library system, which operates branches in unincorporated East Los Angeles, faces a growing budget deficit as the cost of salaries, retiree benefits and other expenses have continued to grow.  Supervisor Janice Hahn warned of possible future cutbacks if officials can’t get the deficit under control.  KPCC

Fire: Firefighters quickly put out a kitchen fire that began early this morning in an apartment in the 3600 block of Los Feliz Boulevard in Los Feliz. No injuries were reported. LAFD

Crash: Building inspectors were called in after a car crashed into a building in the 1500 block of E. 4th Street in Boyle Heights. One person was in good condition after being evaluated for injuries. LAFD
