Pulled pork, anyone? More BBQ in the works for Echo Park [updated]

Baby Blues BBQ has applied to takeover the liquor license from Costa Alegre

ECHO PARK — A business named Baby Blues BBQ has applied to take over the state liquor license from Costa Alegre, the Mexican restaurant that has operated for about 20 years on Sunset Boulevard.

One of the owners of Costa Alegre, which is located next to Taix restaurant in the 1900 block of Sunset,  said she could not comment on what the transfer means for the restaurant until a deal is finalized.

Looks like the new business is part of the small Baby Blues BBQ chain, which serves up Texas-style brisket, Carolina pulled pork and Memphis-style ribs in restaurants in Venice and West Hollywood. The Eastsider has contacted the company to see if they are indeed expanding into Echo Park.

BBQ is in relative short supply in Echo Park. The neighborhood’s only barbecue joint, The Park’s Finest on Temple Street, specializes in Filipino-style barbecue.

Update: A person with the Baby Blues BBQ confirms the firm will be opening an Echo Park location that will be similar to their restaurant in Venice.

How is this a landmark? The food was horrible and I am pretty sure you never went there. Otherwise they would have been in business longer. They got 3 stars in yelp for a reason.
