Arrests made in fatal Elysian Park shooting

SOLANO CANYON — Four suspects have been arrested and a “significant cache” of weapons and narcotics have been seized  in connection with the fatal shooting earlier this month of a 23-year-old man in Elysian Park, police said.

The LAPD is scheduled to hold a news conference on Thursday to reveal more information about the arrests and the shooting, which took place on Jan. 16 at about 7 pm near Park Row Drive and Casanova Street.

Police in a brief statement today did not reveal the identity of the victim, who died later in a hospital. However, the L.A. Times Homicide Report said that a Joseth Ochoa Jr. was killed at that location.

Information gathered by LAPD Central Division homicide detectives in partnership with the  joint LAPD-FBI Task Force  resulted in the arrest of the suspected shooter and three others involved in the drug trade, the LAPD statement said.

“Following three search warrants, a significant cache of weapons, including assault rifles, and narcotics were recovered,” the LAPD said.
