East Hollywood hit-and-run on Virgil and lockwood

EAST HOLLYWOOD — Police are asking the public to help find the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash on Virgil Avenue last month.

Danilo Patos, a 71-year-old Filipino man, was crossing Virgil Avenue north of Lockwood Avenue when he was struck by a northbound Toyota Camry at about 5:30 pm on Dec. 13, according to the LAPD Central Traffic Division. Patos was taken to a hospital with severe injuries.

About four weeks later, Patos’ family informed the LAPD that he had died from his injuries.

The vehicle that struck Patos is described as a gold  Gold 20004/2005 Toyota Camry, with a partial license plate of “– — 770,” police said.  “The driver fled the scene without rendering aid,” said an LAPD Community Alert.
