One dead in El Sereno officer-involved shooting

El SERENO — Police fatally shot one person this morning in the 3400 block of Amethyst Street, the LAPD said.

The shooting took place after officers responded to a call at 6:30 a.m. about two persons — one of them armed with a gun — on Amethyst, police said. An officer-involved shooting took place but details were not available about what prompted the police to open fire.

One person was declared dead at the scene; the other ran from officers, police said. Police have sealed off streets in the area.
