One injured Boyle Heights housing project shooting; man hit by train in Lincoln Heights; 85-unit El Sereno apartment complex up for review

Shooting: A man was shot in the leg early this morning in the Ramona Gardens housing project in Boyle Heights during what police believe to be a gang-related shooting. The victim was standing outside of his apartment at about 1:30 am when he was approached by the suspect who asked him where he was from before shooting him twice, said Sergeant Covarrubias with the LAPD Hollenbeck Division. The suspect, a Latino in his 20s, remains at large.

Train: One man was injured when he was struck by a slow moving train Saturday night (Jan 13) near 750 South Lamar St. in Lincoln Heights. The man’s current condition is unknown. My News LA

Development:  A public hearing will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 17 to review plans to build an 85-unit  affordable housing project at 4208 Huntington Drive South in El Sereno. The developer is seeking permission to build a project that is larger and taller than would normally be allowed in return for reserving all the units for low-income tenants.
