Solano Canyon shooting near Elysian Park leaves man in critical condition [updated]


SOLANO CANYON — A man was left in critical condition after being shot multiple times on a hillside street next to Elysian Park on Tuesday night.

The shooting happened shortly before 7 p.m. when the victim, a Latino in his mid-twenties, was standing on the sidewalk on Park Row Drive near Casanova Street. The victim was approached by two Latinos in their mid-twenties who opened fire, said Officer Mike Lopez, a spokesperson for the LAPD.

The victim was struck multiple times and has been taken to a hospital where he remains in critical condition. It is unknown whether the shooting is gang related, said Lopez. The suspects remain outstanding.
