El Sereno bike advocate rides into film about middle aged men and cycling; public parking lots targeted for housing; Elysian Park fire

Fire: A fire scorched about a quarter-acre of grass and vegetation on the eastern side of Elysian Park near the Arroyo Seco Parkway before it was knocked down by firefighters. No injuries were reported. LAFD

Housing: The city’s most recent effort to build affordable housing for the homeless and other residents has targeted public parking lots across the city, reports The L.A. Times. Those lots include several in Lincoln Heights, which The Eastsider wrote about last month.
