Are you feeling festive for St. Patrick’s Day but want to do more than just wear some green? Then get yourself to Eagle Rock to treat yourself to a green donut or sip on a green agua chileada in Boyle Heights during the First Street Social. For those who can do without wearing, eating or drinking green, here are several other events and things-to-do going on this this weekend:
FRIDAY, March 16
Art – Allow art (and Frida Kahlo) to be your tool for healing during Healing Through Self-Portrait: A Frida Inspired Painting Workshop at the Women’s Center for Creative Work in Lincoln Heights.
Music – Get a dose of some traditional American music this Friday as The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers bring their modern mashup of gospel, bluegrass and country music to the Bootleg Theatre.
Eats – Don’t get pinched this St. Patrick’s Day! If you forget to put on some green before stepping out of the house, pick up a green donut at Colorado Donuts in Eagle Rock this Friday and Saturday for a sweet way to celebrate the holiday.
SATURDAY, March 17
Hot Dogs & Music – Dodger season is just around the corner. But if you can’t wait to get your hands on a steamy hot dog, head over to Meea’s in Eagle Rock for gourmet hot dogs during Feed the Soul, Meeas own live music and art showcase.
Shopping – Do your drunk shopping IRL this Saturday at Zebulon Bazaar, Zebulon Cafe’s new weekly vintage market. You can shop or order from the cafe’s full brunch and bar menu until 5 p.m.
Shopping – Shop for one-of-a-kind handmade jewelry, art and home decor at L.A. Sewcial’s two day Spring Pop-Up at the Union Swapmeet this Saturday and Sunday. The group will also be hosting a gallery opening Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. with art that will be on view until their next event.
Drag & Dancing – Don’t miss your last chance to see Love Connie’s newest hit drag variety show, My Connie Valentine, at the Cavern Club Celebrity Theatre in Silver Lake. See dance numbers inspired by Flashdance and Dirty Dancing Love Connie shimmies and shakes across the stage accompanied by her dance crew and cat.
Community – Cumbias, tacos and art will fuel this weekend’s First Street Social in Boyle Heights. Get your dance on michelada or agua chileada in hand while checking out live performances by cumbia bands La Diabla and Qiensave.
SUNDAY, March 18
Family Friendly – Get your bike or ride blessed at the Blessing of the Bikes and Bombs at Lincoln Park There will be vendors and a raffle at this family friendly event organized by Dino’s Bomb Squad.
Fitness – All bodies, genders and expressions are invited to get in touch with their sensual selves this Sunday as sexologist Victoria Reuveni guides participants through an Orgasmic Yoga practice.
