Gas line break in Cypress Park; students honor East L.A. Walkouts with “Walk-in” at Cal State L.A.

Gas:   Streets were closed and about a dozen Cypress Park residents left their homes early Sunday evening after a gas line was broken  in the 500 block of W. Avenue 28.  The pipe was ruptured by a worker using a tractor to demolish a building at the site, said LAFD.  Daily News

Walk-in:  An estimated 1,000 high school students participated in a “Walk in to Higher Education” on Friday to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the East L.A. Walkouts, which protested the poor quality of public education on the Eastside. The event was part of two days of workshops, presentations and discussions about the impact of the walkouts. Cal State L.A.
