Lincoln Heights car-to-car shooting leaves one dead

LINCOLN HEIGHTS — Police are asking the public to help find the suspect involved in a deadly car-to-car shooting this afternoon.

19-year-old Fernie Garcia was driving near Manitou Avenue and Johnston Street when a male in a passing vehicle shot into Garcia’s vehicle at about 2:25 pm, according to a statement issued by the homicide detectives at the LAPD Hollenbeck Division. Garcia died from his gunshot wounds after being transported to a hospital for treatment.

ABC 7 reports that Garcia was accompanied by a female passenger when shots came from a light gray car. Garcia’s crashed a few blocks from the site of the shooting, which is believed to be gang-related, according to ABC 7.

Detectives are seeking witnesses in the Lincoln Heights area that may have observed the shooting or have any information on this case.
