Music photographer hit and killed on 5 Freeway; new traffic signal for Lincoln Heights

Crash: A motorcyclist was killed on the southbound 5 Freeway in Elysian Valley after being struck by two vehicles early Sunday morning. Emery Becker, a concert and band photographer, had fallen to the pavement after his bike was struck by a hit-and-run driver. Becker stood up when a second vehicle — a pickup truck — crashed into him. He was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and driving under the influence. NBC 4

Stoplight: A new traffic signal will be installed at Avenue 26 & Humboldt Street in Lincoln Heights, according to a Council District 1 newsletter. Construction is expected to start this month, and parking restrictions and lane closures are expected until the project is completed.
