Several injured in Cypress Park crash on Cypress Avenue [updated]

Crash in 1900 block of Cypress Avenue in Cypress Park

Cypress Park  — Six people — including two children — were taken to hospitals for medical treatment early this morning when a truck slammed into two cars in the 1900 block of Cypress Avenue, reports KTLA  and My News LA.

The truck first struck a double-parked car whose driver had been seeking help for a problem and then struck a parked SUV as two children were being placed into the vehicle. The children were taken to a hospital as a precaution, said My News LA.

Update at 3:42 pm: A male pedestrian who was hit by a tire that flew off one of the vehicle is in critical condition this afternoon, said Detective Felix Padilla with the LAPD Central Traffic Division. The female driver of the truck is facing a DUI charge, he said.

  1. We read stories like this everyday and people just shake their heads and sigh. Imagine your life being unalterably damaged because some reckless POS decides it’s their right to get behind the wheel of a car while blasted. Unless someone dies (sometime multiple people), the max anyone gets is 15 years. The fact that the said POS, who always manages to survive somehow, “didn’t mean” to kill, maim or mangle is of little consolation to the victims. We need to up these punishments to fit these crimes. 3 – 5 years for a lifetime of pain and anguish just doesn’t seem just.
