Silver Lake man’s date may have set him up for a home-invasion robbery

Silver Lake  —  Police say that a Silver Lake man who was  pistol whipped and robbed in his apartment last night may have been set up by a woman he had invited over to his place, reports CBS2.

The man and the woman he knew were in his apartment in the 2700 block of Riverside Drive when three men forced their way into the residence at about midnight, robbing him of cash, collectible coins and other items, according to police.  The three men as well as the woman then fled the Riverglen apartment complex.

The victim, 47-year-old ride-share driver Jay Rothenberg, said had an “on again, off again” dating relationship with the woman he met when he gave her a ride, according to NBC 4.

Police said that for now that the  robbery does not appear to be connected to other crimes.
