Traffic Deaths: Mayor Eric Garcetti will propose tripling  next year’s budget for the Vision Zero traffic safety program to $91 million after it has failed to meet expectations for reducing traffic-related fatalities. While hailed by many pedestrian and bike advocates, the program has stirred up opposition from residents and some elected officials, including Councilman Gil Cedillo, for eliminating traffic lanes.
