Vendor: Residents have raised more than $10,000 in support of a Los Feliz sidewalk fruit vendor who was picked up ICE agents and detained for more than 30 days.  Victor Aguirre, a 55-year-old undocumented Mexican immigrant who lives in Eagle Rock, is now free on bail but faces a lengthy and costly legal battle to avoid deportation. Apartment Makeover: Actors Kit Williamson and John Halbach, who film the Netflix series EastSiders in their Silver Lake apartment,  decided it was time to give their home of six years a more refined and less cluttered look. “They are both actor-artist types,” said interior designer Orlando Soria. “They are not organized people. So I styled it in a way that helps them be neat and orderly.” L.A. Times

Strike: About 30,000 school bus drivers, cafeteria workers and other L.A. Unified employees will hold a one-day strike on May 15 to protest what their union says are contract violations. The strike was announced after the district made its final offer in prolonged contraction negotiations. KPCC
