Guns: City officials could not explain a nearly 40% drop in the number of weapons collected at this past weekend’s gun buyback events near Dodger Stadium and in Mission Hills. Gun owners turned over 478 firearms — including shotguns and assault weapons — in return for gift cards. In comparison, last year’s event collected 788 guns. My News LA
River Path: The project to close an 8-mile gap in the L.A. River path between Elysian Valley and Vernon is moving forward. Metro staff has recommended paying the firm CH2M Hill $45.9 to conduct engineering and environmental studies for the bike and pedestrian path that would run along the west bank of the river through Downtown. Once the gap is filled the path will stretch 32 miles from Griffith Park to Downtown Long Beach. The Source
