East L.A. bike road markings go missing

Faded markings on Simmons Avenue | By Aurelio Jose Barrera

East Los Angeles —  Transportation officials have been rolling out new bike-friendly improvements across East Los Angeles. Those include bike boulevard markings on streets to raise awareness of cyclists. But, as East L.A. bike rider and photographer Aurelio Jose Barrera notes, many of those road markings have already faded away or disappeared.

“Many if the newly painted lanes are already looking like s***,” he said.

Barrera said he has contacted L.A. County Supervisor Hilda Solis’ office and the L.A.County Department of Public Works about the road markings.

It’s not know when or if those markings will be repainted.
