El Sereno grass fire scorches five acres

El Sereno  —  Firefighters assisted by water-dropping aircraft knocked down a grass and vegetation fire that consumed about five acres in the Ascot Hills Park area this morning.

The fire, which appeared to burn in the north end of the park, was declared knocked down shortly before 11 am, according to the L.A. Fire Department.

There were no injuries and no structures were damaged or ever threatened by the blaze, said LAFD.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
