Echo Park — Firefighters requested additional help to extinguish a fire that began this morning in a 2-story apartment building in the 1600 block of Allesandro Street.

It took fire crews less than 20 minutes to knockdown the blaze and contain it to two units on the first floor, according to the L.A. Fire Department.

There were initial reports that some persons might have been trapped in the building but no persons were found following two searches of the building.

The cause of the fire, which was declared extinguished at 11:18 am, has yet to be determined

  1. Thank goodness no people inside. A friend was nearby and said the Firefighter response was very fast and intense. The LACounty FD joined LAFD. Thanks everyone!
