Signs of the past revealed — Echo Park

Echo Park  — Thanks to Robin Blackman for passing on this photo of an old sign that was revealed this week as workers water blasted layers of tagging and paint that covers a building on Allesandro Street near Glendale Boulevard.

We can’t make out the entire sign in this photo but it appears to read Acme Glass & Vial.

A check on old building permits found that a C.V. (or G.V) Knowles constructed the building in 1950. Now, we don’t know for sure but it appears that Knowles’ company — “a well respected manufacturer of tubular glass” — lives on in Paso Robles but underwent a name change to Acme Vial & Glass.

If you have any more info Acme Glass & Vial, please pass it on.
