LADWP reports power outages across the Eastside – Silver Lake and Highland Park hard hit [updated]

Power outage in Silver Lake

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is reporting the following power outages as of 3 pm Saturday in the wake of this weekend’s record-breaking heat storm:

  • Cypress Park – 105 customers
  • Eagle Rock – 103
  • East Hollywood – 400
  • Echo Park – 51
  • Elysian Valley – 33
  • El Sereno – 168
  • Glassell Park – 3
  • Highland Park – 1161
  • Lincoln Heights – 23
  • Los Feliz – 750
  • Montecito Heights – 38
  • Silver Lake – 1001

Update: New info from the LADWP dramatically increased the number of customers who were without power in some neighborhoods by about 10 pm. The agency also increased the estimated time it would take to restore power, saying most repairs would take 24 to 48 hours to complete. That’s about twice as long as the previous estimate.

Here are the estimated number of Eastside customers without power as of 10 pm:

  • Cypress Park – 105 customers
  • Eagle Rock – 90
  • East Hollywood – 270
  • Echo Park – 1972
  • Elysian Valley – 33
  • El Sereno – 168
  • Glassell Park – 3
  • Highland Park – 1219
  • Lincoln Heights – 23
  • Los Feliz – 3330
  • Montecito Heights – 38
  • Silver Lake – 1892

LADWP continues to urge customers to reduce their electricity use where possible during peak hours between 2:00 – 9 p.m. today as well as on Sunday.

In addition to customers served by the LADWP, nearly 400 customers served by Southern California Edison in unincorporated East L.A. were without power on Saturday, according to the utility’s outage page.
