Atwater Village — A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of his mother earlier this week, police said today.
Detective Martinez at the LAPD Northeast Division confirmed that the suspect who had been arrested in the case was the son of the victim, identified by KTLA as 66-year-old Constance Mangam. He did not provide the suspect’s name.
Mangam had been stabbed multiple times and was found Tuesday morning in an apartment in 3900 block of Veselich Avenue.
KTLA said the killing took place after a violent family argument but Martinez, who declined to give his first name, could not confirm those details.
It was the first murder in Atwater Village since September 2016, according to the L.A. Times Homicide Report.
