Man rescued after threatening to jump from 110 Freeway bridge in Cypress Park

Cypress Park  —  The Arroyo Seco Parkway (110 Freeway) was shut down in both directions this morning after a man threatened to jump from the Avenue 26 overpass,  officials said.

The L.A. Fire Department said crews placed air cushions across freeway lanes as they responded to the incident shortly after 11 am.  An Eastsider reader named Jessica said Avenue 26 was closed between Figueroa Street in Cypress to the entrance of the southbound 5 in Lincoln Heights.

About 45 minutes after firefighters had been dispatched the LAFD said that the man had been taken safely into custody.
