A bold butterfly in East L.A.

East Los Angeles  — Thanks to Aurelio Jose Barrera for brightening up our day — and the blog — with this photo a large black and yellow butterfly

It appears to be a giant swallowtail, Papilio cresphontesa. These are giants in the butterfly world — with an average wingspan of more than 5 inches.
