Afternoon shooting leaves man dead in Boyle Heights alley [updated @ 7:20 pm]

Boyle Heights  —  Officers are on the scene of a murder that took place this afternoon near State Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, said LAPD spokesman Tony Im.

The murder was reported shortly after 12 pm, said Im.

He had no further details about the incident, but NBC 4 says the fatal shooting took place in an alleyway.

Police have closed Pennsylvania at 1st.

Update @ 7:20 PM: Police said the shooting victim was a male Latino between the ages of 20 to 25, based on preliminary information. There is no information on the suspect or suspects.
