Silver Lake  —  Mayor Eric Garcetti, LAPD Chief Michel Moore and even a magician were part of the crowd that gathered in a Glendale Boulevard parking lot early Tuesday evening to celebrate the 35th Annual National Night Out.

The annual event intended to build police and community relations had a festive atmosphere, with live music, food donated by local restaurants, fire trucks and police vehicles, said Sandy Driscoll, who attended and snapped photos of the event. Mayor Garcetti posed with police cadets and was interviewed by reporters. Meanwhile, newly appointed Chief Moore chatted with residents.

One of the biggest attractions was a shiny BMW police motorcycle. “The kids just loved it,” she said.

It was a fun evening and a good way to meet up with new neighbors and renew old friendships, while chowing down on some really delicious food,” said Driscoll.
