Marine layer has been rolling in early and thick

Marine layer as seen from Silver Lake

The coastal marine layer has made for cooler and gray afternoons this week, obscuring the sun and blue skies across much of the L.A. basin. Dan Gershon of Silver Lake took this shot of the clouds moving in earlier this week. But the low clouds appear to have been rolling in even earlier in the afternoon lately.

The marine layer may take a break soon. Temperatures in the low 90s are expected by Saturday.
