East Hollywood loses a Subway but is gaining a Starbucks

New Starbucks planned for 4700 Sunset Blvd. in East Hollywood

East Hollywood  —  Starbucks is planning to open a new shop on Sunset Boulevard near Vermont Avenue in one of the buildings that make up the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center.

The Building & Safety Department has received building permit applications to remodel an existing restaurant space at 4700 Sunset Boulevard for a Starbucks.

That’s the same address where a Subway sandwich shop, now closed, used to operate at the corner of Sunset and New Hampshire Avenue. The same complex contains a parking garage, Kaiser urgent care center and several floors of medical offices.

It’s not clear when the new Starbucks will open.

There are already two Starbucks within a few blocks of the new location, including on on Vermont Avenue in Los Feliz and another inside a Vons at Sunset on Virgil.
