Woman trapped in vehicle after Boyle Heights crash

Car crash on Cesar Chavez in Boyle Heights

Boyle Heights  —  It took nearly an hour for firefighters to free a woman from a wrecked car after it crashed into a tree on Friday night, according to the L.A. Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to the 1300 block of E. Cesar Chavez Avenue shortly after 10 pm after receiving reports of a person trapped in a vehicle. The LAFD said an “extended extrication operation” was required given the extensive damage to the vehicle.

The woman and the male driver were both taken to a hospital. The fire department had no information about the extent of their injuries.
