Councilman Huizar sued by a former employee — again

L.A. City Council proceedings

A former office manager for 14th District Councilman Jose Huizar has filed suit, claiming she was retaliated against for complaining about Huizar’s alleged affair with a co-worker and other inappropriate office activities, reports the L.A. Times.

Sound familiar? That’s because a different female staffer filed a similar suit against Huizar last week. In fact, the two women share the same attorney.

Huizar denied the most recent claims made by 45-year-old Pauline Medina, describing her as a disgruntled  employee whose lawsuit was politically motivated, said the Times.

In her lawsuit, Medina claims, among other things, that staffers were asked to perform many personal tasks for Huizar, including picking up his children from school and moving his wife’s car to avoid getting a street-sweeping ticket.

The 14th district includes all or portions of Boyle Heights, Downtown, Eagle Rock, El Sereno, Hermon, Highland Park and Monterey Hills.
