Eastside Weekend: Indie rock dance party; Lamplight Celebration; Sandra Tsing Loh’s ‘Sugar Plum Fairy’

‘Tis the season of long check-out lines and busy parking lots. So to ease the stress, we’ve listed a few Eastside maker’s markets that should be easier for you to navigate.

Sip mimosas while you shop for witchy wares at The Dark Side of Yuletide: A Holiday Market or for handmade local goods in Atwater Village. And there’s plenty of Christmas-y activities in between to keep you in the holiday spirit.

FRIDAY, Nov. 30

Wildflower Weaving Workshop at Makers Mess: Flora and textiles come together as you’re guided through the creation of your own sculptural wildflower wall hanging. Keep it or gift it! 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. $60-$100. Details.

ELECTRIC FEELS: Indie Rock + Indie Dance Night at the Echoplex: This party is bringing indie hits old and new, so dance to your heart’s desire to the likes of Tame Impala, The Black Keys and Yea Yea Yeas. 9 p.m. $8-$10. Details.

SATURDAY, Dec. 1

Black Metal Yoga: Went too hard on the headbanging? Relax into downward dog and let your head hang as heavy metal tunes bounce off the brewery walls in this vinyasa class. 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. $16.66. Details.

Mimosa brunch with live music at Winsome: While away the hours, champagne in hand, as musicians Emma Cole, Rowan McGuire and Miss Cactus & the Desert Maren perform live on the patio. 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Details.

Art Collector Starter Kit V opening night at Corey Helford Gallery: A must for aspiring art collectors, this show will feature smaller, more affordable pieces by the gallery’s roster of well-known international artists. Free. 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Details.

The Dark Side of Yuletide: A Holiday Market at El Cid: Enjoy brunch and bottomless mimosas before shopping for witchy and weird wares at this unique holiday market. $5. 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Details.

SUNDAY, Dec. 2

Breathwork Meditation Workshop at People’s Yoga: Get a little help working through the holiday madness with a combination of meditation, restoration and breathwork. $20-$30. 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Details.

Handmade Market LA in Atwater Village: Find unique handmade Christmas gifts made by local makers selling everything from jewelry to ceramics. Free entry. 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Details.

24th Annual Lamplight Celebration at Heritage Square Museum: Get into the spirit of the holidays at this annual Lamplight Celebration. Enjoy a wine and cheese reception in the glow of the historic Victorian homes. $15-$45. 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Details.

Sugar Plum Fairy at Skylight Theatre: Throw on your ugly holiday sweater or a hanukkah hat, or both, to watch the story of a 12-year-old girl who dreams of dancing the lead in the Nutcracker. $15-$35. 3 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Details.
