LAPD releases video of Virgil Avenue hit-and-run that killed teenage jogger

Police have released surveillance video of the hit-and-run crash that killed an an 18-year-old jogger who was running across Virgil Avenue south of 1st Street near Historic Filipinotown.

The video, which was posted on YouTube on Thursday, comes as detectives are asking for the public’s help to  find the driver who struck a teenager on Saturday while heading south on Virgil Avenue. Andy Olivera Monoscano, who lived nearby, was struck at around 1 a.m. on Virgil near 1st Street while running down the street.

He died shortly after the crash.

The suspect’s vehicle is possibly a red, Honda Odyssey, police said.

LAPD Detective Garry McQueen said there’s still no vehicle description and they are looking for any information that could help identify the suspect.
