Boyle Heights house fire leaves one dead, four injured

House fire breaks out on Sheridan Street
Boyle Heights  — One woman was killed and four others were injured after a house fire broke out early this morning in the 2200 block of E. Sheridan Street, said the L.A. Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived to find the front of the one-story home in flames and rescued a 66-year-old woman who was unconscious, said LAFD. However, the woman was pronounced dead after taken to a hospital.

The other victims included a 34-year-old woman in critical condition with possible burns and smoke inhalation. A 3-year-old boy, a 35-year-old man and a 66-year-old man were in serious condition with possible smoke inhalation, said LAFD.

The cause of the fire, which was reported at about 4 a.m., has not been determined.
