Driver arrested in fatal East Hollywood crash

Pedestrian killed near Vermont and Santa Monica in East Hollywood

East Hollywood —  A driver who police say may have been drunk fatally struck a pedestrian early this morning near Santa Monica Boulevard and Vermont Avenue, according to officials.

The driver, Gankunyag Nyamdorj, was traveling northbound on Vermont Avenue just south of Santa Monica Boulevard when his Lexus RX350 hit the pedestrian, a Latino man in his 30s, at about 2:30 a.m. police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The  Nyamdorjwas arrested and booked on vehicular manslaughter, said LAPD spokesperson Drake Madison.
