Feelin’ festive? Ditch the campy holiday themed parties for Funky Sole’s 19th Anniversary Party with special guest, Cut Chemist or listen to your favorite J-Pop and Asian Pop during happy hour at the Zebulon.

FRIDAY, December 21

Winter Solstice Sound Bath at the Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock: Let the penetrating sounds of crystal bowls and a gong help you ring in the winter solstice. Bring your own mat and blanket. $20-$25. 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Details

Tokyo City Nights at the Zebulon in Elysian Valley: Start your weekend off with a “golden hour” that plays your favorite J-Pop, City Pop and Asian Pop. 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Details

Cumbiaton Posada Tropical at Echoplex: Let the non-stop cumbias and Afro-Latinx rhythms at this Echo Park party heat up your chilly winter night. $15. 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Details

Holiday Wreath Workshop at Makers Mess: Need a hostess gift for your next holiday party? Learn how to make a festive holiday wreath! $75. 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Details

RuPaul’s Drag Race Bingo and Viewing Party at 33 Taps: Kick off the new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race will a bingo viewing party in SIlver Lake that will be held every Friday night through the season! No cover. 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Details

SATURDAY, December 22

Funky Sole 19th Anniversary with Cut Chemist at The Echo: If you’ve partied with FS, then you know you might have to wring the sweat out of your shirt once the party’s over, and this night will no exception. The dance floor will be packed as hip-hop avant-guardist Cut Chemist spins some gems. $10. Details

Planting at Steelhead Park: Increase biodiversity along the Los Angeles River by planting native plants at Steelhead Park. Layer up and bring water. Snacks will be provided. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Details

SUNDAY, December 23

Santa University: A Live Staged Reading at the Lyric Hyperion: See what unfolds live on stage when 40,000 Santas are admitted against their will to Santa University, but only one survives the school year to become the one true Santa. $5 suggested donation. 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Details

Special Holiday Show at Akbar: Inappropriate songs for the season will be played live on stage by music and comedy performer Deven Green and mystery gifts will be gifted. 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Details
