Two dead in Historic Filipinotown murder-suicide

Historic Filipinotown — Two people are dead after an apparent murder suicide Tuesday morning, police said.

Detectives said that a woman in her 20s who lived in an apartment complex in the 200 block of N. Burlington Avenue had just left her home when her ex-boyfriend confronted her.

Police believe the man, described as a male Latino in his 30s, had been waiting for her near a carport. Officers found the man and woman when they responded to a call at 9:30 a.m.

Neither of their names have yet been released. He died at the scene. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

“It is pretty sad,” said LAPD detective John Melendez. “She was on her way out the door. She lived in apartment complex with her mom. Her mom heard the gunshots and sirens and that’s when she went down to investigate.”

Melendez said that the woman had gone out with the man for several years and told her mother that her threatened her before. But, she had broken it off.
