El Sereno man escapes injury after gunmen open fire

Man shot at near Rose Hill Park in El Sereno

El Sereno  – Police are searching for the suspects in a shooting that happened near Rose Hill Park Monday night.

The shooting happened at about 8:30 p.m. at the corner of Mercury and Boundary avenues, near the park and the Rose Hill Courts housing project, said Lt. John Barkley with LAPD Hollenbeck Division.

The victim was walking home when a vehicle approached, and the suspects asked what gang he was from. The victim ran away as the suspects fired numerous rounds in his direction before they drove off in an unknown direction, Barkley said. The victim was able to escape without any injuries.

Officers responded to the scene and did not find any bullet casings. But it is possible that the suspects used a revolver that does not drop the casings or the casings landed in the car, said Barkley.

One of the suspects is described as a Latino man, 5-feet 5-inches tall, wearing a black hoodie and black shorts. There was no information available about the second male suspect.

The suspects were driving a 2015 white four-door sedan.
