Firefighters knock down Boyle Heights duplex blaze

Fire damaged Boyle Heights duplex on Chicago Street
Boyle Heights  —  Fire crews took about 24 minutes to extinguish a fire that broke out this morning in a vacant duplex in the 500 block of S. Chicago Street, said the L.A. Fire Department.

The blaze, which was reported at about 10 am, sent up a thick column of smoke into the sky that was visible across a wide area. The fire was limited primarily to the attic, said LAFD.

There were no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
