Echo Park — One person was evaluated by paramedics after a fire broke out in a 2-story home with “excessive personal storage,” said the L.A. Fire Department on Twitter.
The fire, which was reported at 10:26 a.m in the 1800 block of Morton Avenue near Elysian Park, was knocked down in about 15 minutes.
One occupant who suffered an unspecified injury declined to be transported for medical treatment. Several pets were rescued from the home but “the life status of one or more animals remains in question,” said LAFD.
Initial reports said the fire may have started in the kitchen. No further information was available.
