Boyle Heights  —  Detectives are working to find  suspects after officers found a man with gunshot wounds lying on the street early Thursday morning.

Patrol officers found the victim near Soto Street and Rio Vista Avenue at about 3:30 a.m., said Lt. Michael Bautista with LAPD’s Hollenbeck Division.

The officers initially thought the man had been struck by a car. But upon closer inspection they found the victim was suffering from two gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he is undergoing surgery, Bautista said.

No further information on the victim or possible suspect or suspects was immediately available.
