If sitting in a restaurant surrounded by other couples on their Valentine’s Day dates is too awkward for you, we listed a couple of unique dates ideas to help you and bae celebrate this weekend.

SATURDAY, February 9

Valentine Bazaar at Melody Wine Bar: Find gifts for your Valentine at this makers pop-up in East Hollywood featuring products made by women artisans. Free entry. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Details.

Homeless Services Volunteer Training at Edendale Branch Library: Get the skills you need to best engage and help your unhoused neighbors and do your part to help the issue of homelessness on the Eastside. Free. 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Details.

Valentine’s Day Brush Lettering Workshop at Dinosaur Coffee: Ditch the garish drugstore Valentine’s cards and use your new brush lettering skills to make your own at this Silver Lake workshop. $45. 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Details.

Mercadito de Amor at Self Help Graphics: Ni Santas, an art collective made up of all women of color, will host their annual Boyle Heights makers market where you can shop for locally made hand-crafted gifts and art. Free entry. 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Details.

Herbal Aphrodisiacs: Love Potions and Other Sensual Treats at Wild Terra: Rev up your sex life by learning how to incorporate herbs and foods into your daily routine to support your sexual health. Make and taste these seductive treats in this Highland Park class. $45. $85 for couples. 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Details.

Picture This! Live Animated Comedy Show at the Virgil: If you never outgrew your old comic books and you’re a fan of stand up comedy, this one’s for you! See animators draw comedians while their set unfolds during this live animated comedy show in East Hollywood. $8-$10. 7:30 p.m. Details.

SUNDAY, February 10

Her Selections: R&B Valentine’s Day Edition at the Blind Barber: R&B tunes will turn up the heat as you slow dance the night away with your SO or as you sing along with your crew in Highland Park. Free. 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Details.

Cake Decorating without Rules at Makers Mess: Up your cake decorating game in this Silver Lake class and surprise your Valentine with a sweet treat. $100. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Details.  

Forge Festival at the Audubon at Debs Park: See all things blacksmithing at this festival. There will be live demonstrations, tomahawk throwing and an artisan metal and craft marketplace. 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Details.
