Tony Yanow’s follow-up project to Mohawk Bend in Echo Park is ready to launch, says The Eastsider. Named California Sun, the pizza concept’s grand intro to the neighborhood is on Monday, Feb. 11. Yanow, who is the founder Golden Road Brewing, said that “he wanted to bring a casual, walkable spot to the neighborhood with something for everyone.” California Sun is at 3903 Sunset Blvd. in Silver Lake.

A storefront dedicated to showcasing more than 60 Latino-owned businesses and vendors has landed in Boyle Heights, NBC4 News reports. Named Molcajete Dominguero Tienda, the space was founded by business partners Luis Octavio and Gladsy Vasquez. A mural of Mexican actress Maria Felix serves as the centerpiece of the space while items such as Frida Khalo purses, Selena-centric candles and eclectic goods that symbolize the people, places and things that have influenced the Latino community are displayed on the shelves. Molcajete Dominguero Tienda is at 2195 Whittier Blvd. in Boyle Heights.

Beauty Box salon is bidding farewell to Echo Park. The hair and nail salon’s last day at its Echo Park location on 1498 Sunset Blvd. is on Saturday, Feb. 23 with plans to reopen at its new location at 2131 North Broadway in Lincoln Heights on Tuesday, March 5, the shop owners announced. Beauty Box’s history in Echo Park is notable. It originally opened in the neighborhood about 13 years ago at 1515 Sunset Blvd., where Rock Paper salon is currently housed. A few years later, Beauty Box relocated to its current location, becoming one of the city’s best nail and hair salons. Now Beauty Box is on the move again.
