Silver Lake – Yet another ambitious local restaurant is closing its doors after about a year or less in business.

This time it’s Tintorera on Sunset Boulevard, which managed to last only eight months, according to Eater LA.

This follows hard on the heels of two other Sunset Boulevard restaurant closures since the start of the year.  Bar Angeles  lasted a year and a couple of months before shuttering at the end of March as its owners prepare for a new Filipino cuisine concept. In January, Mixed Company made it to all of 10 months when it closed for good in January.

As for Tintorera, it couldn’t seem to get a toehold with local customers, despite having the pedigree of Mexico City chef Maycoll Calderon. The Mexican seafood restaurant opened last summer to much hype, but then ran against flagging reviews.

To make matters worse, since most of Tintorera’s seating was outdoors, the restaurant had already been closed for a while anyway because of recent rains, Eater LA said.
